It is a bittersweet time leading up to the last episode as fans, cast, and crew walks down memory lane remembering all the greatness that this “zombie show” has created. When the series began in 2010, no one knew it would grow into a universe of this magnitude.

Kang talked about the finale in the EW interview and went on to talk about the back and forth of who was the worst threat, humans or the undead. She stated that both groups are a threat in the final episodes, and our survivors have their work cut out for them.

The creators decided to highlight different characters throughout the final eigthe episodes giving them time to shine, but the finale will focus on the main characters.

With approximately 60 minutes of screen time, the final episode won’t be able to conclude each character’s story. Instead, as our survivors gear up for the final battle, only specific stories can see a significant focus. This will likely disappoint many fans, but hopefully, the series can end on a high note.

When asked if there will be a tag scene, Kang declined to answer, only stating, “I can’t give that away. [Laughs] You don’t want to know anyway.”

She did go on to say that with Bear McCreary and Sam Ewing involving a full orchestra for the score for the last episode, there is a natural cinematic feel. She feels fans will feel the emotion of our heroes being heroic.
