The Walking Dead spinoffs fans want to see
The absolutely wild and epic journey of The Walking Dead series has now come to an end. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster for fans worldwide as we have seen twelve years of excellent storytelling unfold in front of our eyes. What a ride!
During the finale of TWD, so many stories found their closure, as we saw all of our favorites living and surviving in the undead world. During the emotional episode, however, not all of the characters had such a closed ending. And the good news for fans is there is still much more to come.
Daryl (Norman Reedus) sets off on his motorcycle after an emotional conversation with Carol (Melissa McBride), promising her that he will be back, leading him into his spin-off, which we know is set in France. Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) end up in Manhattan with their spin-off, Dead City. And, of course, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) are back with a tense return. But what other spin-offs do fans want to see?
Alternate The Walking Dead Spin-Offs
If we go down the backstories route, there could be the potential for these to be explored in any new episodes of Tales of The Walking Dead. As we have seen, they have already explored Alpha (Samantha Morton) a little more. So many characters could have excellent episodes set in this style. The options here are endless.
Fans have expressed their want to see more of Glenn (Steven Yeun) in his days of delivering pizzas up to those moments of meeting Rick. This would be interesting, as Glenn was a pivotal part of the series, and we didn’t see any of his backstories, and there could be so much to learn. Maybe even back to his birth in Michigan to learn about his childhood.
Another spin-off people have mentioned that would be awesome to see that of Rosita (Christian Serratos), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), and Eugene (Josh McDermitt). I feel it would be fun to see all of these three separately in their lives before the apocalypse, then to see their stories align and link up into episodes featuring all three on their quest to Washington. Again, nothing was seen of Rosita, and there was only one flashback to the early days of the apocalypse when Eugene and Abraham met each other. But as they have such deep and rich stores, this is a spin-off I’d love to see – there is so much that could be told here.
But there isn’t just the option of origin stories and flashbacks available for fans to watch. Seeing their futures after years of rebuilding their World would also be great. Kelly (Angel Theory) and Connie (Lauren Ridloff) appeared to be very happy and settled at the end of 1124, “Rest In Peace,” and continuing with their journalism careers. And the other good news is Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) and Magna (Nadia Hilker) have found their happiness and finally reunited as a couple.
So, in the future, are they still together, married? And are they still in the same job roles? Do they all even still live in the community, or have they gone to explore elsewhere like Daryl, Maggie, and Negan? And will they ever meet the legendary Rick Grimes they heard so much about?
Perhaps there could be more spin-offs set elsewhere, such as another unseen state in the US, maybe even another country in Europe, or new territory elsewhere on another continent of the World. This then opens up the possibility for all new stories and characters to incorporate into the TWDU. Fear The Walking Dead and World Beyond have already shown so many characters traveling and seeing what is going on.
And, of course, one that has come up a lot, in particular, is a whole series dedicated to the great Carol Peletier. It would be heartbreaking to see anything about her early days with Ed and her struggles. But also, really interesting to know a little more about where and who she was before Season one of The Walking Dead. It is a shame she won’t be featured in the Daryl spin-off however if they made more – it doesn’t mean she won’t appear should there be more episodes. Anything can happen!
So, whether we see King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) feeding giraffes at a zoo, delve more into Mercer’s (Michael J Shaw) and Princesses (Paola Lazaro) future as a happy couple, or see Judith (Cailey Flemming) as an adult as the alternate ending to the series – I think any content from our favorites will be fantastic to see. Will there be any treats like this in the future? I cannot wait to find out; let’s hope so!
The Walking Dead is available to stream on AMC + with all episodes available. Alternatively, UK viewers can stream via Disney Plus.
