This week’s Walking Dead news (December 10, 2022)
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead series concluded its story almost three weeks ago, and fans of TWDU are still discussing the ending. It was an unexpected and satisfactory way to end the series, and the fandom is excited to see what’s to come with the spinoff series in various production stages.
The Walking Dead: Dead City will be the first of the newly announced series to premiere in April 2023. This series also marks the first direct spinoff of the flagship series. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will partner up in this series but don’t expect a buddy comedy. The pair have long been at odds, and from their conversation in the last episode, Maggie will never forgive him for Glenn’s death. It will be exciting to learn what makes this pair off on a mission, especially with how they left things during the series finale.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is currently filming, and this series will see Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon end up in France. The biggest question is how he arrives at this location. Little is known about this series, but there have been some casting announcements.
The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne, hopefully, that isn’t the official title, will, according to Danai Gurira, begin filming in January 2023. This series will most likely tell more of what these characters endured to return to one another.
Fear the Walking Dead, the first spinoff in TWDU, is filming season 8 and could see a release before Dead City, making 2023 the year of TWDU.
