The Walking Dead: Dead City teaser reveals Maggie and Negan’s mission

Fans of The Walking Dead universe are counting down to the day when new content will be released on AMC.  Fear the Walking Dead will premiere part one of its eighth and final season in May. The Walking Dead: Dead City, the Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) series will see its debut in June. A recent teaser released for Dead City reveals the mission that will see this pair head to the apocalyptic streets of Manhattan.

Dead City will be the first direct spinoff of The Walking Dead series. Eli Jorné will serve as showrunner and co-created the series with TWD Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple. Initially titled Isle of the Dead, Dead City teams up the unlikely duo of Maggie Rhee and Negan Smith, who have long been enemies. Fans of the franchise have speculated why these two would team up, and many of us were correct.

The new teaser (below) confirms rumors that Maggie and Negan will partner to rescue Maggie’s son Hershel who has been kidnapped by Željko Ivanek’s character, The Croat. There are still many questions as to why Negan is the one who goes with Maggie, and the trailer reveals Negan is a wanted man as his image is featured on a wanted poster.

The Walking Dead: Dead City teaser

Maggie has been put through the wringer throughout her storyline. Now she will face every mother’s nightmare, compounded by an apocalyptic world overrun by the undead and whatever else they encounter in Manhattan.

This series is set two to three years after the events of the final Walking Dead episode, so the role of Hershel, previously played by Kien Michael Spiller, has been recast by Logan Kim, known for his role in Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
