In season 7 of Fear the Walking Dead, Kim Dickens returned as fan favorite Madison Clark, which led to rumors that Troy Otto, portrayed by Daniel Sharman, could also make a return. This is a highly unlikely probability because of the nature of his death caused by Madison and being seen floating down the river, but stranger things have happened. Fans of Sharman can see him in a new Sky Max series, A Town Called Malice, in March.

2023 Update: Sharman does return to the eighth and final season of Fear the Walking Dead.

Created by Nick Love, A Town Called Malice is a British crime thriller that will air on the British Sky Max on March 16, 2023, and be distributed internationally by NBCUniversal Global Distribution. Directed by Jamie Donoughue, Love wrote the series with Melissa Bubnic, John Jackson, Liz Lake, and Matt Evans.

Deadline initially reported that Sharman would join the cast of A Town Called Malice.

A Town Called Malice – Daniel Sharman, additional cast and more

Set in Spain in the 80s, the series follows the Lord family, a crime family whose heyday in the criminal world is past. The youngest of the family, Gene (Jack Rowan), and his girlfriend Cindy (Tahirah Sharif) decide that moving to Costa del Sol, Spain is just what they need. The relocation will help them avoid jail time as they try to avoid trouble. When the rest of the Lord’s family joins them, they all have a much different plan than Gene and Cindy.

The synopsis for the series reads: “If Dallas made love to Pulp Fiction to the sounds of Duran Duran, they’d give birth to this intoxicating cocktail of crime thriller, family saga, and a musical love letter to the ’80s. When they flee to the Costa del Sol in Spain following a gangland battle, the Lords realize this is a golden opportunity to re-capture their former glory. However, they spend as much time battling each other as they do their opponents in this exuberant, neon-soaked 80’s crime thriller – filled with romance, obsession, violence, deceit, and swagger.”

Other cast members include Jason Flemyng, Martha Plimpton, Dougray Scott, Lex Shrapnel, George Jaques, and Eliza Butterworth.

The series gets its title from a hit song by The Jam, which became number one in Britain in February 1982. “A Town Called Malice” is the only song by The Jam to make it to the US charts at number 31 in the same year.

This song has also been featured in National Lampoon’s European Vacation, Billy Eliot, The Matador, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Another interesting tidbit regarding this song. It was featured in The Walking Dead series season seven episode “The Cell” while Dwight observes life at the Sanctuary.
