Fear the Walking Dead: Colman Domingo in Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken
By Renee Hansen
Colman Domingo recently said goodbye to his Fear the Walking Dead character Victor Strand. The series wrapped filming on the eighth and final season in March 2023 and will premiere on AMC in May. Deadline reports that Domingo is tied to a new Dreamworks animated film Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken.
Directed by Kirk DeMicco, known for The Croods and Vivo, with Faryn Pearl (The Croods: A New Age) as co-director and written by Pam Brady (South Park). Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken will release in theaters on June 20, 2023.
The story follows 16-year-old Ruby, a shy kraken who just wants to fit in at Oceanside high. Forbidden to go to the beach by her mother, Ruby does just that, only to discover a mysterious secret about her heritage. She is the descendant of the warrior Kraken queen set to inherit the throne from her grandmother, the Warrior Queen of the Seven Seas.
The Krakens are sworn to protect the seas from the vain and powerful mermaids, creating a feud between Krakens and mermaids that has gone on forever. This creates a massive problem for Ruby when the new girl at school, who is beautiful and popular, is revealed to be a mermaid. Ruby must embrace her true self and become who she was destined to be.
