The Walking Dead series concluded its long-running storyline in November 2022. This has left a gaping void in the lives of fans of the series who devoted 12 years to this story. There are several Walking Dead spinoffs to come, but which ones will be released in 2023?
Fear the Walking Dead is the first spinoff series from the flagship series of TWDU. Set in the same world as TWD, Fear TWD is set in different areas of the United States with a different cast of characters. This series will premiere its eighth and final season on AMC+ on May 11 and on AMC on May 14 at 9 p.m. ET. Original cast member Kim Dickens has reprised her role as Madison for the last season, and the story will see our survivors discover the long-sought-after organization, PADRE.
Season 8, part 2 will release on AMC on Sunday, October 22 at 9 p.m. ET.
The Walking Dead: Dead City is the first direct spinoff of The Walking Dead that will feature Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) and Negan Smith (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). These two characters were leads in the main series and find themselves on a journey to Manhattan to search for Maggie’s missing son Hershel. Manhattan is overrun by a horde of walkers 1 million strong, and the city has been cut off from the mainland since early in the outbreak. This series will premiere on AMC+ and AMC on June 18 at 10 p.m. ET.
Dead City actress Mahina Napoleon revealed in an interview that the series will begin filming a second season and this was confirmed at SDCC 2023.
The Walking Dead spinoffs
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will feature fan-favorite character Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) as he arrives on the shores of France with no recollection of how he arrived or what his purpose is. He will make plans to make his way back home, but people he encounters along the way make his task difficult. This series will release sometime in the second half of 2023.
Recent reports and posts on social media from cast members indicate that Daryl Dixon is currently filming for a second season. This hasn’t been confirmed by AMC. Another rumor tied to the series is that fan favorite Melissa McBride could return for this second season, another rumor that hasn’t been confirmed.
UPDATE: Season 2 of Daryl Dixon was confirmed at SDCC 2023.
