Portrayed by Melissa McBride since season 1, episode 2, “Tell It to the Frogs,” Carol is also one of the most transformed characters of the series. She began as an abused wife afraid of her own shadow to a warrior who would die for those she loves.

While she did make some questionable choices along the way, no one has saved the main group more times than Carol.

The Walking Dead – Carol Peletier

Once Carol found her courage, she became vital to Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) group. She would prove to be an asset and become a powerful leader, fighter, and protector.  Below are just five times Carol saved the day in amazing ways.

CDC

During the season 1 finale, “T-19,” Carol saves the day at the CDC by having a grenade in her possession, allowing Rick to break the impenetrable glass so everyone could escape. Call it luck or intelligent; it was quick thinking on Carol’s part to remember she saved the grenade from Rick’s uniform when she washed his clothing.

Terminus

This was hands down the best save of them all. In the season 5 episode “No Sanctuary,” Rick, Glenn (Steven Yeun), Daryl (Norman Reedus), and Bob (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) were about to have their necks slit when Carol blew up the gas tank causing the disruption which saved their lives. Fans were angry with Rick for throwing Carol out of the prison, but when the rest of the group was being held captive at Terminus, it was convenient to have Carol on the outside.

The Wolves

Carol put on quite a show for the residents of Alexandria. Posing as the happy homemaker with no combat skills allowed her to do what she does best. But during the season 6 episode “JSS,” when the Wolves breached the walls of Alexandria, Carol quickly slipped into her true self, disguising herself as one of the Wolves, which allows her to freely move about killing the enemy.

Negan team up

During the fourth episode of season 10, “Silence the Whisperers,” Negan was released from prison by an unknown person. It would eventually be revealed that Carol let him out to take down Alpha (Samantha Morton). Negan joined the Whisperers, became an ally of Alpha, and then betrayed and killed her. While this didn’t end the Whisperer War as Beta (Ryan Hurst) continued the war, it was the beginning of the end, thanks to Carol’s plan.

The Commonwealth

In season 11, the survivors were introduced to The Commonwealth, a progressive community, unlike anything they had seen since before the outbreak. It seemed too good to be true, and it was. While the outward appearance gave the impression of a wonderful community, the true nature of the leaders was quickly revealed. Carol played the part she needed to learn more and became privy to information about Deputy Governor Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton). While the takedown of the Commonwealth was a joint effort, Carol’s inside information was vital.

The creators of The Walking Dead have said that Carol’s story isn’t over, and rumors have circulated that McBride could join the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon series. This hasn’t been officially announced, so only time will tell if/when Carol’s story will continue. But fans of Carol and McBride long for more Carol.
