The Walking Dead had a fantastic run with 12 years, 11 seasons, and 177 episodes. Fans of the series were sad to see it end, but the creators, cast, and crew did an amazing job of bringing this chapter of The Walking Dead universe to a close. On May 3, 2023, at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City, The Walking Dead will be honored at the annual Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame ceremony.

The annual Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame pays tribute to the pioneers, innovators, and stars of broadcast, cable, and broadband television.

"Receiving the coveted Hall of Fame honor is more than the acknowledgement of a successful career – it’s entry into an exclusive community of honorees that have truly changed the paradigm of the industry."

This year’s event will honor The Walking Dead with the Iconic Show Award. This series began its run on Halloween night, 2010, with the #1 cable series launch of all time and hold the record for the most watched series in cable history. The show would become the #1 show in television, including broadcasting, a rank it held for five consecutive years.

Even though the flagship series has concluded, The Walking Dead series has sparked a series of content, including Talking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the episodic anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead, and four upcoming spin-offs: The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, More Tales of the Walking Dead and a show based on the popular Rick & Michonne characters with the working title Summit.

It is an exciting time for fans of The Walking Dead universe.
