Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive look at a new 30-second trailer for the upcoming The Walking Dead: Dead City spinoff. This series will partner the unlikely pair of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as they travel to Manhattan to rescue Maggie’s son Hershel (Logan Kim), who has been abducted.

The teaser begins with Maggie running Negan down with a truck as the pair then come at each other, Negan armed with a wrench, Maggie with a knife she holds to his neck. It appears that the truce they agreed on in the final season of The Walking Dead is now over, but Maggie needs Negan to head to Manhattan with her to carry out her plan.

Dead City will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on June 18 at 10 p.m. ET. This will immediately follow the midseason 8 finale of Fear the Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead: Dead City

The first season of Dead City will consist of six episodes and lay out the story of Hershel’s abduction by The Croat (Željko Ivanek), who some believe has ties to the Saviors.  This season will also introduce Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles), Marshall of the state known as New Babylon, who is searching for Negan.

This series will be a drastic departure from the wooded setting of the main series and see the island of Manhattan in an apocalyptic form. The island was cut off early after the outbreak and, since that time, has been overrun by a horde of walkers over one million strong.

Mahina Napoleon, who plays a character named Ginny, stated in an interview with Midweek that she would be returning to New York toward the end of 2023 to film the second season of this series. This has yet to be confirmed by AMC.

Don’t miss Dead City on AMC in June 2023.
