Fear the Walking Dead is the first spinoff in The Walking Dead universe, which paved the way for the universe’s expansion with more spinoff series to come. The series started strong with seasons 1-3 and trickled off afterward. In January 2023, AMC announced that season 8 would be the last of Fear the Walking Dead. The first part of the final season aired in May and June, but when will part 2 of season 8 be released?
Season 8 of Fear the Walking Dead is split into two six-episode segments, the first of which has aired and can be viewed on AMC’s subscription service AMC+. The first part of the season experienced a seven-year time jump and focused on PADRE, a long sought-after location that was easily overthrown as it wasn’t as big of a threat as once thought. These episodes also saw a huge Morgan (Lennie James) storyline, which would end his time on the series. The midseason finale was Morgan’s final episode, a huge milestone because James has played this character since the pilot of The Walking Dead in 2010.
Fear the Walking Dead season 8 part 2 release date speculation
The first part of the final season aired with a lead-up to the new spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City, with the premiere of that series airing the same night as the midseason finale of Fear TWD. AMC may do the same thing with the upcoming The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff, which will be released in the fall of 2023. Viewers could see the final episodes of Fear TWD and the new Daryl Dixon series to follow immediately.
Filming for Fear TWD was wrapped in March 2023, so this series may be ready to air by Sept. 2023, with Daryl Dixon following in October, traditionally a Walking Dead premiere month.
Below is the teaser trailer for Fear the Walking Dead season 8, part 2. The midseason finale aired an interesting coda scene that features a mysterious person; you can read about it here.
