The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon can Daryl deliver The One who will revive humanity?
By Renee Hansen
AMC has done a fantastic job hyping the upcoming spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The network has released numerous short clips, a full-length trailer, and new character intros, with the first 10 minutes of episode 1 available to view on AMC+. The most recent clip focuses on the young boy Daryl encounters, Laurent, who is believed to be the one who will lead humanity’s revival.
Laurent, played by newcomer Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, is a boy who has lived at an Abby for some time. Daryl (Norman Reedus) encounters The Union of Hope, the sect of nuns who appear to have raised Laurent. Led by Isabelle (Clémence Poésy), the nuns are well situated at their Abby, complete with a well-stocked arsenal. They aid Daryl and reveal to him that they believe Laurent to be “The One” to lead humanity’s revival, and Daryl is the messenger sent to deliver him.
The latest promo below showcases Laurent as Isabelle tells Daryl, “He is ready.”
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
Each new clip for the Daryl Dixon spinoff reveals a bit more about what is expected of Daryl regarding Laurent. The nuns are very religious and have placed their faith in Daryl. The original description of Isabelle states that she will confront her dark past in Paris, which will add to the story’s drama.
"Isabelle’s character description: a member of a progressive religious group who joins forces with Daryl (Reedus) on a journey across France and finds herself confronting her dark past in Paris."
Daryl meets many new faces while in France, including some enemies.
The Cause, a political movement led by Genet (Anne Charrier), wants the American dead. Her right-hand man, Codron (Romain Levi), promises her he won’t stop until it is done. And from the looks of him, he is highly capable of completing this task. He is accompanied by soldiers, including Philippe (Elias Hauter).
