Actor Corey Hawkins has starred in many roles since his Walking Dead character Heath disappeared from the storyline. In season 7, Heath went on a supply run with Tara (Alana Masterson), came up missing, and was never heard from again. Now, Hawkins will play a new role in what looks to be a fantastic new chapter on the story of Dracula in a movie titled The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

Hawkins has had roles in Straight Outta Compton, BlacKkKlansman, and The Tragedy of Macbeth; all three Oscar-nominated films. He also received an Emmy nomination for his performance in Survive. With all of his success, he hasn’t received top billing in a film until now. The Last Voyage of the Demeter sees Hawkins as Clemens, a physician refused a job due to his race who books passage on the Demeter to make his way back to England.

The supernatural horror is directed by André Øvredal, known for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The film is an adaptation of the single chilling chapter “The Captian’s Log” from Dracula, written by Bram Stoker in 1897. This film has been in development for decades, with the final script penned by Zak Olkewicz, who, along with original screenplay writer Bragi F. Schut are credited.
