The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff has introduced several exciting characters, some of whom didn’t have a huge role but would prove significant to the story. One person introduced in episode 2 was Aimee, a little girl on a scooter outside Isabelle’s (Clémence Poésy) apartment at the onset of the outbreak. She would be found reanimated in episode 3, a sight which caused Isabelle much heartache.

In a flashback to the night the outbreak began in Paris, Isabelle is seen partying, using drugs, and using her pickpocketing skills, a life very different from that of the nun status she now retains. After trying to make her way home, she is picked up in the street by her boyfriend Quinn (Adam Nagaitis), and they head to her apartment to gather her things.

When they are ready to depart, a young girl, Aimee, confides in Isabelle that her father didn’t come home the previous night and her mother has been on the phone crying. This doesn’t sound good, but Isabelle knows the girl must return home to avoid whatever is out there attacking people. She instructs the girl to go home, where her mother will take care of her, and makes her promise to stay inside.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – Aimee

When Daryl (Norman Reedus), Isabelle, and the others arrive in Paris, Isabelle must return to her apartment for items she can use as currency. When they walk into the courtyard, a reanimated Aimee is tied up in some vines. The look on Isabelle’s face is pure devastation, realizing the girl never returned home.

While viewers knew death would eventually meet Aimee because Isabelle didn’t ensure her safe return home, no one imagined it would be shown in the story. It was heartbreaking to see the poor little girl, minus her nose, likely where the walker bit her.

As heartbreaking as it was to see this child in this state, the purpose was to show Isabelle’s path. At the onset of the outbreak, Isabelle was selfish, doing what she had to survive. While she did instruct the girl to return home, there was nothing to ensure her safe return.

Since the outbreak, Isabelle has undergone drastic changes in her life. She has committed her life to God and cared for her nephew Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) and others who have crossed her path. Seeing the fate of Aimee now visibly shook Isabelle and showed how much the apocalypse and Laurent’s birth had changed her for the better.
