Walking Dead – What would Negan think about Dwight & Sherry’s Sanctuary plans?
By Renee Hansen
Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christine Evangelista) are two crossover characters who began their stories in The Walking Dead and eventually cross into the Fear the Walking Dead storyline.
They were both members of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) Saviors who escaped the trauma they experienced at the Sanctuary. During the final episode of Fear TWD, they decide to return to the Sanctuary, where they intend to use the location for a purpose that will change lives for the better. What would Negan think of their plan?
Dwight and Sherry are two characters whose fates seem to be heartache and loss. After losing their son Finch (Gavin Warren) in the first segment of season 8, they decided that being together has only made their lives miserable. In the back half of the season, Dwight returns to their former home. This choice then finds him back at the Sanctuary, a location that offers nothing but painful memories as this is where Negan used a hot iron to disfigure his face, to mention only one horrific event that occurred during his time there.
The couple eventually realizes they would have never found one another if they weren’t meant to be together. But with PADRE’s fall, what would be their next course of action?
Fear the Walking Dead – Dwight and Sherry
Sherry escaped from the Sanctuary in the main series, and Dwight was given mercy by Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), who told him to go in search of Sherry and never return. Daryl did this as a kindness to Sherry and aided his escape from the Sanctuary. Against all odds, after quite some time, the couple is reunited.
All the events they have experienced lead them to the decision to turn the Sanctuary from a place of horrible memories to a location that can do some good for others. With the fall of PADRE, a large number of children who were taken from their parents by Madison (Kim Dickens), were left without homes. The Sanctuary can now be a place to house this group of kids while Dwight and Sherry help them reunite with their parents.
So, the question is, what would Negan think of their plan?
In his current state of mind in The Walking Dead: Dead City, Negan would think this is a great way to use the facility that brought about pain, heartache, and destruction and change it into a place full of life and hope. He would also be happy to know that this couple was able to reunite and thrive since leaving the Saviors.
Fear the Walking Dead concluded its story in November 2023, and The Walking Dead: Dead City has been renewed for a second season.
