The Walking Dead has been on the screens of fans for over fifteen years, and fans have grown to know the characters through the mothership show and the various spin-off series that began with Fear the Walking Dead in 2015. There have been numerous twists in the character development of the series, and that is one of the things that has kept fans gripped over nearly two decades. Let’s not forget the comic series, which predates the television format.
Daryl Dixon has been one of the most popular spin-off series. There are multiple reasons behind this, but some include the fact that there have been returning fan favorites such as Carol Peletie (Melissa McBride) and exploring the backstory of Daryl and his brother Merle, touching on the relationship they had with their father. Similar to Maggie and Negan's spin-off Dead City, there have been expansions on the universe from other destinations to keep the series different, but at the root of it all, it is intertwined with the stories of hope.
Daryl Dixon is to return for its fourth season, which was also announced to be the final season. For fans who have Norman Reedus on social media, a clear sign that this is the end of an era for Daryl is the fact that his iconic long hair is once again short, and he looks once more like Daryl from season 1! But this could also mean a new beginning for the character.

3. Further flashbacks
We have touched on moments of Daryl and Merle's relationship together and with their father. But it would also be interesting to see more about their mother and maybe what happened the night of the fire. Maybe even seeing Daryl's life after Merle left; although this would be sad, it will deepen our understanding of where the hero came from.

2. Carol and Daryl make it home
The series has seen Daryl and Carol embark on a European road trip, with stops in France, England, and Spain. They are still both in Spain at the moment; however, we do know that they sent Laurent to flee to America with Ash on his plane. This was to give him hope of finding their community and sending the message to their friends and family that they hope to be back. Surely this has to be revisited by them, making it back across the ocean to one of the factions!

1. Character reunions
It may seem obvious, and it is; however, not all of the spin-offs end in reunions. Dead City wrapped after the third season, and although we saw an alternate reality episode with Negan, Beth, and Maggie in New York City, they did not actually reunite with any familiar faces. The Ones Who Live saw Rick and Michonne reunite with their kids, so hopefully Daryl and Carol can reunite with their family as a wrap-up in the closing scene of the final mothership TWD episode.
Will we get any of these moments? I sure do hope so, as I am certain other fans hope for as well. It will be bittersweet, but I am excited to see what this next chapter in their ever-growing story is.
The fourth season of Daryl Dixon is scheduled to premiere in February 2027.
