With the announcement that The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is coming back to our TV screens sooner than ever, there’s a lot to look forward to. We get to see the conclusion of this epic story, get our questions answered, and see the storylines we’ve been dreaming of happen.
In the months that we still have to wait, we also get to theorize about who will show up in the next season and who we might get to see. There have been a lot of rumors about what could happen in Daryl Dixon season 4 and who could return. Of course, there are some characters who we really want to see somehow.
With the final season premiering in February 2027, I shared the five people I’d love to see pop up in the final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

Merle
All right, maybe it’s a bit of a stretch, but I’d love to see Merle (Michael Rooker) appear somehow in the final season of Daryl Dixon.
Merle was never really a Walking Dead villain. At least, I never saw him that way, considering he was always just Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) older brother and was always messing around in every way, shape, or form. He was just a dude who was pretty much the epitome of a jerk who had no self-control and would essentially annoy the hell out of people by being racist and misogynistic.
He had a bit of a character arc in season 3. I wish we had gotten to see more of him, but unfortunately, we didn't. I bring up Merle because Daryl was reflecting a lot on his past in season 3. It would make sense for them to interact again somehow. I don’t need a full-on flashback — maybe a photo or something. Rooker has said in the past that he wouldn’t really want to revisit the series, so I might be a fangirl reaching now.

Connie
One character I feel we didn’t get real closure with in The Walking Dead was Connie (Lauren Ridloff) and her friendship/connection with Daryl. Honestly, at the end of The Walking Dead, I was rooting for these two to become an item because they seemed to get each other. Daryl literally carried an ASL book in his pocket to learn sign language so he could communicate with her. If that's not Daryl showing love, I don't know what is.
We’ve at least seen Daryl find someone in this spinoff — even if it didn’t last long, which I’m still annoyed about. I wouldn’t mind seeing him interact with her somehow again. I think a reunion there would be nice and, at the very least, give them some closure.

Laurent
While Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) wasn’t a Walking Dead character, he was a major one in the spinoff, which ended at the end of season 2 when he flew to America on a plane with Ash (Manish Dayal) at Daryl's pleading to get Laurent to safety. Daryl’s main goal, aside from getting home, was also getting Laurent to safety at the end of season 2.
It’s clear he at least accomplished that, but I’d still like to see him interact with the kid again. It feels like that relationship was left up in the air, and I would have loved to see them at least communicate via radio or something in season 3. However, we didn’t get that. Even so, if a Laurent reunion is in the future, I would be down to see it. They need to get that right.

Judith
I would give literally anything to see Daryl reunite with Judith (Cailey Fleming) again. Granted, she is much older now (the actress is already 19 years old!!!!). You could also go with the idea that time has passed and things have changed, or she just had a growth spurt or whatever.
Seeing Judith would be, hands-down, the most amazing moment that I think all fans of the show are craving because Daryl always had a special connection with Judith. He was one of the first to hold her. He was also one of the first to truly care about her well-being. He went out of his way to find formula and make sure she was safe and cared for. There’s a reason she often stayed with him when Rick wasn’t around — he was essentially her father figure for a time.
So why not have them reunite somehow? They had an emotional goodbye in the finale. I would love to see them together again.

Rick
I don’t really have to say why this needs to happen; it just does. Everyone is craving a Walking Dead reunion, and trust me, so am I, but if we just got Daryl and Rick (Andrew Lincoln), I’d be happy. If this is the end of Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride), let Rick be there, too.
Reedus and Lincoln were always an incomparable duo on and off screen. Seeing them together again after so long apart would mean the world. Honestly, it would give Daryl closure because he spent ages looking for him. He kept looking for him for years. Why wouldn’t we want to make sure these two somehow had their moment in the sun?
Season 4 could be terrible, but if it ended with Rick and Daryl back together, fans would be happy.
You can stream the first three seasons of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on both AMC+ and Netflix.
