By Renee Hansen
Actor Joel de la Fuente began portraying Losang, leader of The Union of Hope, in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon in the first season of the spinoff. In the penultimate episode of the second season, subtitled The Book of Carol, Losang met his match in Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). de la Fuente gave fans a treat by posting some great BTS images from that episode.
If you haven't watched the fifth episode of season 2 of Daryl Dixon, you might want to click away from this episode.
In the previous episode, Losang made the mistake of stabbing Isabelle, an act that put his life in grave danger from the wrath of Daryl. Isabelle is one of the only women Daryl has ever allowed himself to have romantic feelings for. Soon after they shared a kiss, Daryl's first on-screen, Isabelle, succumbed to the stab issued by Losang.
It what de la Fuente calls the Fight in the Catacombs, he shared a series of images of his death scene, giving a shout out to the stunt department who share their expertise. The first image shows Daryl, skull in hand, and viewers know what he used that for...to bash in Losang's head. He took out all his emotions of losing Isabelle on Losang.
He also featured photos of his stuntman Ludovic Faure and Reedus' longtime stuntman, Josh Romeo. He also mentioned Gaetan Caillot, a French stuntman who assisted them with the stunts for the series.
The video below shows more of the fight between Losang and Daryl, and de le Fuente explains more about the process of preparing for his role as Losang and the combat scenes he had to film.
Losang kills Isabelle
Daryl is a man who hides his emotions and for the most part has refused to acknowledge the death of Isabelle. Carol and Laurent have tried to talk to him about her but he quickly change the subject. Killing the man responsible for her death was a form of processing grief.
Losang originally had the idea to use Laurent as a beacon of light to give others hope. This became twisted into something that would cause harm to Laurent, an act that the majority of his followers were against. Fallou said it best when he told Losang, that if you need something to prove your faith, you've already lost it.
de le Fuente did an amazing job in his portrayal of Losang but as a villain, it was only a matter of time before someone took him down.
Next he will star in the Disney+ and Hulu Korean spy drama, Tempest, which is currently in production. You can also see him in some of his recent roles, including My Adventures with Superman, The Mysterious Benedict Society, The Good Doctor, Evil, and Devils.
