Fear the Walking Dead is AMC's first spinoff of the wildly popular post-apocalptic series The Walking Dead. The cast for Fear TWD comprises many notable actors, including Colman Domingo, Kim Dickens, Lennie James, and more. In season 1, Shawn Hatosy portrayed a military officer named Andrew Adams; most recently, the actor appeared on Max's medical drama The Pitt.
Created by R. Scott Gemmill, The Pitt reunites Gemmill with John Wells and Noah Wyle, who previously worked on ER together. Wells serves as an executive producer with Wyle, who also stars. The series premiered on Max in January 2025 and has since concluded its first season, which has received high praise for writing, direction, and performances by the actors.

Each episode of The Pitt chronicles one hour of a single 15-hour shift while the staff encounters challenging emergencies. The story reveals the hardships the medical professionals encounter due to a shortage of staff and supplies. The medical community has praised the series for shedding an accurate light on what hospital staff members endure on a daily basis. The series also delves into the psychological challenges experienced post-pandemic.
Wyle leads the cast as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, the senior attending at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. He is joined by Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, and Shabana Azeez, rounding out the main cast.

In the first episode, Hatosy briefly portrays the overnight shift attending, Dr. Jack Abbot, who is relieved of duty by Dr. Robby, who works the daytime shift. He reappears in episode 12 after a tragedy occurs, and several nighttime workers report for duty early to assist. Abbot is then present throughout the remainder of the season.
Deadline reports that The Pitt has been renewed for a second season. At the recent Deadline’s Contenders TV panel, Gemmill shared that the next 15 hours of the series will take place over a Fourth of July weekend. The story will pick up 10 months after the events of season 1, and if you know anything about an ER during a holiday, you know this will be another fantastic season.
While there are no immediate plans for a spinoff, Wells and Gemmill have expressed interest in pursuing a story surrounding the night shift staff. This could be great news for Hatosy, whose role as the overnight attending could mean a lead role.

Hatosy portrayed Corporal Andrew Adams, member of the 40th Infantry Division in the California National Guard, in three episodes of the first season of Fear the Walking Dead.
He portrayed Andrew "Pope" Cody in TNT's crime drama Animal Kingdom (2016–2022), played serial killer Boyd Fowler in Dexter, and police officer Terry McCandless in Reckless.
Hatosy is well known for his role in numerous movies, including In & Out, The Faculty, Alpha Dog, and most recently, Unstoppable, which is streaming on Prime Video.
