Garth Ennis, creator of Prime Video's The Boys, is adapting his Crossed comic into a movie. In 2024, The Hollywood Reporter announced the project that was acquired by Six Studios.
Recently, THR exclusively reported the cast members for the film, which includes Fear the Walking Dead actor Spenser Granese.
Ennis is well known for his Preacher and The Boys comics, which he has previously adapted into series. Now he has written the screenplay for the movie adaptation of Crossed. Early in 2025, Rob Jabbaz (The Sadness) was announced as the director, and recently, the cast has been revealed.
THR announced that Devin Druid (13 Reasons Why) and Ash Santos (American Horror Story) will lead the cast of the post-apocalyptic story. They are joined by Granese as Brett, along with Ethan Jones Romero (Law & Order) as Thomas; Kyla Hee (Psychosis) as Kelly; Chido Nwokocha (Top Gun: Maverick) as Kitrick; Bob Morley (The 100) as Randall; Ana Mulvoy Ten (American Crime) as Sheena; Steven Hack (Little Death) as ‘Geoff; and newcomer Lorenzo Ross as Patrick.
Owen Harn (Cobra Kai) portrays the villain Horsecock with his henchmen Fedor Steer (Haunted Mansion) as Face and Kelvin Adekunle (City of Love) as Stump. Additionally, Angie Campbell as Amy and Peter Falls as Joel have been cast.
Crossed is set in a world overcome by a pandemic where the infected are recognized by a cross-like rash on their faces. Those infected by the mysterious disease don't change into zombies, but rather retain their intellect and give in to their worst impulses.
The movie, which was filmed in Los Angeles, is currently in the post-production phase. Ennis used the original 10 issues of Crossed, published from 2008 to 2010, as inspiration for the film.

Granese joined the cast of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead during season 7. He portrayed Arnold, a ruthless leader of The Stalkers, who was a former member of the Doomsday Cult led by Teddy Maddox (John Glover). His death was quite brutal as Daniel (Reuben Blades) lowered him into a pit of walkers who devoured his legs, and he died soon after.
The actor was a guest star in Ryan Murphy's 10-part series Grotesquerie. The series follows a detective and a nun who team up to find out who is responsible for the heinous crimes committed in their community. The series is streaming on Hulu.
Granese has also appeared in S.W.A.T., Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, La Cocina, Mayans M.C., Barry, Better Call Saul, and more.
Next, he will star in A24's Marty Supreme, a fictionized story of Marty Reisman, a 1950's professional ping pong player. He has also secured a role in a thriller Stone Cold Fox that stars Kiernan Shipka, Krysten Ritter, and Kiefer Sutherland.
