Fear the Walking Dead's Alycia Debnam-Carey cast in Legendary’s new Monsterverse movie

The yet-to-be-titled movie will be a follow-up to 2024's Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Actress Alycia Debnam-Carey is well known for her role as Alisha Clark in AMC's Walking Dead spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead. She said goodbye to the character in 2023 during the eighth and final season of the series. Debnam-Carey has also appeared in a long list of other great projects and was recently announced for the upcoming movie in Legendary's Monsterverse franchise.

The untitled film is the sixth in the series and will be directed by Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) from a script penned by Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi). Still in the early stages of production, the film's plot has yet to be revealed. Deadline reports that several new human characters will be introduced with Titans Godzilla and Kong.

Kaityln Dever, who will star as Abby in the second season of The Last of Us, was the first cast announcement. Debnam-Carey will reunite with Dever as both recently starred in the Netflix series Apple Cider Vinegar. Dan Stevens returns in a reprisal of his role as Trapper Beasley from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Other cast announcements include Jack O’Connell, Matthew Modine, and Delroy Lindo.

Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise includes Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and the highest-grossing film in the franchise, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024).

The Untitled Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sequel is scheduled for release on March 26, 2027.

Alycia Debnam-Carey - recent roles

Debnam-Carey has recently been featured in many great roles in addition to Fear the Walking Dead and as Lexa in the CW series The 100.

In 2023, she starred in the psychological drama Saint X, which was released on Hulu. Based on Alexis Schaitkin's best-selling novel, the series follows Emily Thomas (Debnam-Carey), who embarks on a dangerous journey to discover the truth of her sister's murder that took place 20 years earlier.

She starred with Sigourney Weaver in Prime Video's The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. The story is set in Australia and tells of an orphan, Alice Hart (Alyla Browne & Debnam-Carey), who, after a devastating fire, is taken in by her estranged grandmother. The story follows Alice into adulthood when she learns of family secrets spawned from a complicated past. Weaver, Debnam-Carey, and Leah Purcell were nominated for their performances at the 13th AACTA Awards. The series received 12 nominations in all, including Best Miniseries.

The actress also starred in the Netflix sci-fi horror comedy It's What's Inside. The film follows a group of college friends, who after eight years, reunite for a party that quickly spirals out of control when one member suggests they play a game involving body swaps.
