HBO’s The Last of Us is gearing up for its highly anticipated third season, and fans are already buzzing over the latest casting news. The hit post-apocalyptic drama is bringing two major characters from The Last of Us Part II video game to the small screen. They are Seraphite siblings, Yara and Lev.

According to Deadline, Michelle Mao and Kyriana Kratter have been cast as Yara and Lev, respectively. They join the third season as series regulars. Most recently, Mao appeared in Bridgerton season 4. She portrayed the role of Rosamund Li, the cunning stepsister of Sophie (played by Yerin Ha). Kratter, on the other hand, is known for her role as KB in Disney+’s Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

In The Last of Us Part II video game, Yara and Lev share a deeply emotional sibling bond that's defined by loyalty, trust, and sacrifice. Yara, the older sibling, consistently protects Lev, especially as he asserts his identity as a transgender boy. In The Last of Us season 3, their storylines are expected to play a major role in Abby Anderson’s (Kaitlyn Dever) journey.

This makes sense seeing as though both end up becoming close to Abby in the video game. In fact, Lev ultimately becomes a key partner for Abby, assisting her through some of the most dangerous and emotionally charged moments. While we don't know exactly what all of The Last of Us season 3 will entail, we do know that it will focus heavily on Abby's perspective. More plot details should eventually be revealed.

Mao and Kratter are just the latest to join the third season's cast. We recently learned that Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring film series) had signed on for The Last of Us season 3. He will be playing the recurring role of Jerry, Abby's father. Additionally, news broke that Jason Ritter (Matlock) will appear in a recurring role as well. He will be taking on the role of Hanley, a soldier in the WLF.

Other new additions include Clea DuVall, who will portray a Seraphite, and Jorge Lendeborg Jr., who is stepping into the role of Manny following Danny Ramirez’s departure. Returning cast members include Dever, Ramsey, Isabela Merced, Gabriel Luna, and Jeffrey Wright. In addition, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord will continue to play their Mel, Nora, and Owen characters in the third season. The only difference this time around is that they've been promoted to series regulars.

The Last of Us season 3 does not have an official premiere date at the moment, which makes sense since the show is nowhere near close to being finished with production. However, the third installment is expected to start airing on HBO sometime in 2027. It's also believed that the third season will be its last. That's all we know about the show's return so far.
