Fans of The Walking Dead universe are looking ahead to the fourth and final chapter of AMC’s European spinoff series, and the big question now is simple. When will we actually get the release date for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4?
While AMC hasn’t officially announced a premiere date yet for the fourth season, it's already been confirmed that it will premiere sometime in 2026. In addition, there’s already a very clear pattern forming across the show that gives a strong indication of when that announcement is likely to arrive.
At this point, it’s less about if we’ll get a season 4 date announcement soon, and more about when AMC chooses to drop it for maximum impact.
A zombie show built on predictable timing
Over the last few years, AMC has established a consistent release rhythm for Daryl Dixon. Season 1 premiered on Sept. 10, 2023, season 2 followed on Sept. 29, 2024, and season 3 arrived on Sept. 7, 2025. Each season has landed in the same early fall window, making September the franchise’s unofficial launch month.
Even more important than the premieres is the timing of AMC’s announcement strategy. For each season so far, the network has revealed premiere dates during the summer promotional cycle, usually between June and mid-July.
For example, Daryl Dixon season 1’s premiere date was announced in mid-July 2023, while season 3’s date reveal arrived in late June 2025. In both cases, AMC paired the announcement with teaser content, new promotional stills, and franchise-wide hype designed to keep the Walking Dead universe continuously in the spotlight.
That pattern is the key to predicting Daryl Dixon season 4’s announcement. Another key is looking back at when new seasons of Dead City were either almost finished airing or had just wrapped, because AMC has repeatedly used that transitional period as a trigger point for major Walking Dead universe announcements.
This was especially evident in 2025, when Dead City season 2 concluded its run on June 22. That same day, AMC officially revealed the Daryl Dixon season 3 premiere date. And if you want to go back even further, you can look at when the network decided to announce the Daryl Dixon season 1 premiere date. The first season's premiere date was announced on July 14, 2023, just a couple of weeks before the Dead City season 1 finale.
AMC just recently announced the official release date for the highly anticipated Dead City season 3. The new installment will start airing on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Each season usually airs for about a month or so. This means we could potentially see Dead City season 3 wrap up its run by late August 2026, and AMC announce the Daryl Dixon season 4 premiere date shortly before or after the finale. Or, perhaps the network might reveal the fourth season's premiere date on the exact date the Dead City season 3 finale airs.
In other words, we could be looking at a Daryl Dixon season 4 release date announcement sometime in August 2026. That's our best estimate based on AMC’s established rollout pattern across both Daryl Dixon and Dead City.
But again, this is all just an informed projection based on past scheduling behavior. This is not an official confirmation from AMC. That said, we'll just have to wait and see how the network decides to structure its rollout for Daryl Dixon season 4. The good news is that we'll definitely be seeing the fourth and final installment before 2026 wraps up!
