Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be back on our screens in late July when The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 finally premieres on AMC and AMC+. Fans won't have to wait too long after that premiere to see Morgan's next TV series, and it looks like it has potential to be one of the biggest shows of the summer.
Sterling Point premieres on Prime Video on Aug. 5, 2026. All eight episodes of the first season will be available to stream on the release date. Prime Video also just shared the new trailer for the series over the weekend.
Morgan only makes a brief appearance in the trailer, but it looks like he has a big role as a recurring character named Joe in the upcoming Prime Video series. You can catch him at the 1:53 mark of the trailer that's nearly three minutes long.
Created by Megan Park, Sterling Point has all the makings of another great Prime Video young adult/teen series. It tells the story of Annie, a young woman who inherits a full island in Canada after several tragic incidents. From the trailer, it looks like Annie discovers some family and friends that she never knew she had.
Here's the full synopsis, via Prime Video:
"Sterling Point is a heartfelt, coming-of-age drama led by 17-year-old Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin). Raised in New York City with her twin brother (Keen Ruffalo) and loving adoptive father (Jay Duplass), Annie's life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather's island in Canada. There, she finds new friends, budding romances and untold family secrets."
In addition to Rubin, Duplass, Ruffalo, and Morgan, Amélie Hoeferle, Nikko Angelo Hinayo, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Mabel Strachan, Elle-Maija Talifeathers, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, and Missi Pyle also star in the series.
Prime Video has had so much success with these summer kinds of shows. The Summer I Turned Pretty is obviously the most successful of the bunch, but we've also seen We Were Liars take off for the streaming service. Off Campus is a little more on the mature side, though that's been another massive hit for Prime Video.
Sterling Point is also dropping at the perfect time. Summer is still in full swing in early August, and we've seen a lot of hit shows premiere around that time. The O.C. famously premiered on Aug. 5, 2003.
Morgan is obviously a megastar in the world of Supernatural, The Boys, and of course, The Walking Dead after he shocked the world as Negan way back in season 6 and season 7 before a three-season-and-still-counting run on Dead City.
This is an interesting project for Morgan, though, and there's a lot of mystery around his role in the series. He appears to be some kind of adversary of Annie's father, Steven, played by Duplass. Even when he's not in a show where he has to play this badass character, Morgan still looks like a badass, though.
It's definitely outside of the realm of what Walking Dead fans are probably looking for, but Morgan is such a good actor. I just have to watch basically everything he's in these days.
We'll share more news about Sterling Point as we find out. Morgan will be attending San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 24, to promote the new season of Dead City with Lauren Cohan. We'll be there and covering the panel. Remember, Dead City season 3 premieres on Sunday, July 26, on AMC and AMC+.
Don't forge to watch the new Prime Video series starring Morgan on Aug. 5!
