Jeffrey Dean Morgan, best known for his iconic role as Negan in The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: Dead City, is back on television in a brand-new Prime Video drama, and fans finally have their first look!
The streaming giant has unveiled early details and a first glimpse of its upcoming series, Sterling Point, along with confirmation that the show will premiere globally on Aug. 5, 2026. The eight-episode first season will drop all at once, making it a full binge release on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan stars in Prime Video's Sterling Point
As mentioned above, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is widely known for playing Negan in the hit AMC zombie series and one of its beloved spinoffs. Now, he's set to step into a very different kind of story with Sterling Point. We're talking about one that trades post-apocalyptic survival for coming-of-age drama.
Created by Megan Park, the drama series centers around 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, who lives in New York City with her twin brother and adoptive father. After unexpectedly inheriting an island in Canada from her estranged grandfather, Annie suddenly finds her life completely changed.
What begins as a shocking piece of family news quickly turns into a life-altering journey as she leaves behind everything she knows and travels there. While on the island, Annie starts building new friendships, experiences love, and begins uncovering hidden family secrets.
Here's the official synopsis for Sterling Point via a Prime Video press release:
"Sterling Point is a heartfelt, coming-of-age drama led by 17-year-old Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin). Raised in New York City with her twin brother (Keen Ruffalo) and loving adoptive father (Jay Duplass), Annie's life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather's island in Canada. There, she finds new friends, budding romances and untold family secrets."
Below, we shared two first-look images of Sterling Point:

Sadly, Prime Video did not share any photos of Morgan from the new series. However, we do know that he plays the recurring role of Joe. Now, who Joe is within the story of Sterling Point remains under wraps, with Prime Video keeping details about his character tightly guarded for now. What’s clear, however, is that this marks a noticeable shift for Morgan, moving away from the hardened, violent edge of Negan.
The Sterling Point cast also includes Ella Rubin, Keen Ruffalo, Jay Duplass, Amélie Elisabeth Hoeferle, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, Nikko Angelo Hinayo, Mabel Strachan, Elle-Maija Talifeathers, and Missi Pyle.
August is just a few months away, and we're probably looking at the show's official trailer dropping a month or so before its release date. Hopefully, we'll then get a glimpse of Morgan's character in the trailer even if it’s just a brief moment that hints at his role in the series!
Besides Sterling Point, fans can also look forward to seeing Morgan in The Boys season 5, which is currently streaming new episodes weekly on Prime Video. He reprises his role as Joe Kessler in the superhero series. Additionally, he is set to return as Negan in the highly anticipated Dead City season 3.
Unfortunately, there isn't a release date for the show's return just yet. However, we're likely looking at a premiere sometime this year. In addition, you can hear his voice in the latest season of Invincible. He voiced the role of Conquest for four episodes of Invincible season 4. Last but not least, Morgan's hit NBC reality show, Destination X, was renewed for a second season. So, that's another project of his to be on the lookout for!
