Jon Bernthal is having the best year of his career, and it continues to get better and better. After starring in His and Hers, the second-biggest Netflix show of the first half of 2026, Bernthal starred in the two biggest movies of the summer, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Now, two of Bernthal's older movies are rising on the streaming charts. Two movies on different streaming services are officially on their Top 10 lists. It's obvious that Bernthal's star power is rising, and fans want to see more and more of him.
We shared both older movies starring Bernthal, who starred as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead, that are gaining in popularity at the moment, starting with Sicario.
Sicario
Sicario is currently the No. 7 on HBO Max, as of Tuesday, Aug. 25. The film has bounced around between the No. 4 and No. 10 spot on the Top 10 for quite some time.
Denis Villeneuve's Sicario premiered in theaters in 2015, and it's easily one of the best crime movies of the decade. The film features an incredible cast with Josh Brolin, Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, Victor Garber, and Daniel Kaluuya.
The film tells the story of FBI and CIA agents trying to take down a cartel leader after violence and the intensity of the War on Drugs increase in America.
Overall, Bernthal has a more limited role in Sicario, but it's very important to the story. In the film, he plays Ted, a police officer in the Phoenix police department. He meets Blunt's character, Kate, after a major bust. Without Bernthal's character, the main characters struggle to put the final pieces of the puzzle together.
The Amateur
The Amateur is currently sitting at the No. 10 spot on Prime Video's Top 10 movies list, as a "most liked" selection. It's also bounced around the Top 10 for a few weeks, so you know more and more people are discovering the movie and tuning in on Prime Video.
The Amateur is a 2025 thriller from James Dawes. It stars Rami Malek, Rachel Brosnahan, Laurence Fishburne, CaitrĂona Balfe, and Michael Stuhlbarg. Bernthal has a smaller but significant role in the movie. He plays a character called The Bear, who is a CIA operative. The film is based on the book of the same name by Robert Littell.
The film tells the story of a rogue CIA officer, Charlie Heller (Malek), who tries to find the terrorists who killed his wife in an attack in London.
As mentioned, Bernthal doesn't have huge roles in either of the movies. He is one of the most popular actors in the world right now, and he's always a fan-favorite with fans of The Walking Dead. We simply had to let fans of Bernthal's know about these two movies streaming right now.
