We knew Jon Bernthal's hit Netflix mystery, His and Hers, was a massive hit for Netflix when it premiered in January 2026. Now, the ratings for His and Hers are revealing just how popular this show actually was.
According to a report from Vulture, His and Hers was actually the seventh-most popular show of the last year, or the 2025-26 TV season, based on Nielsen's multiplatform plus seven days (MP+7). In the Netflix show based on Alice Feeney's book of the same name, His and Hers racked up 9.6 million views, according to Nielsen. In other words, nearly 10 million viewers tuned in to watch Bernthal and Tessa Thompson solve some murders in the show's first week after release.
His and Hers was among a few other Netflix shows, including Stranger Things 5, the top show overall with nearly 23 million views, and Bridgerton season 4, which ranked No. 6, one spot above His and Hers, with almost 12 million views.
His and Hers actually topped those numbers and became the second-most popular show of the year behind Stranger Things in its first 35 days after release with 25.6 million views. Not bad for a month and some change!
Bernthal starred in the first two seasons of The Walking Dead as Shane Walsh. In His and Hers, Bernthal stars as Detective Jack Harper, a man with a short history with the victim of a murder in a small town in Georgia. He finds himself trying to find the real killer before someone finds out his secrets, as well. Tessa Thompson, Marin Ireland, Pablo Schreiber, and more round out the rest of the cast.

Despite the great ratings, His and Hers season 2 isn't in the works... yet
While I'm sure Netflix would love to, it doesn't look like His and Hers season 2 is in the works yet. That doesn't mean that Netflix and the executive producers aren't trying to figure out a way to make it happen.
According to a report from Forbes, producer William Oldroyd revealed he's thinking about how they can bring the cast and back for another season and tell another story. The key question is, what makes sense? Remember, the first season was based on a book. The second season would be drifting away from the story that was already told in the show's first season.
"The question I have is, ‘Where do you pick it up from? Do you pick it up straight from where you’ve just left off? What does she do with this information? Or do we just move on?’ For me, it’s like, ‘Do you want to see what she does with that information, or do you want to just start from a position which is further down the line and she’s sitting with it, and it’s still there, and she knows the truth, see how it plays out with her relationship with her mother after that?’”
Will it happen? That remains to be seen. When you have a ratings hit like this, it makes a lot of sense to keep it going, especially in this economy.
Bernthal might not have much time for another season, though. He's one of the most in-demand actors in the business at the moment. So far this year, he's been in His and Hers, The Punisher special, and The Bear's special episode, and he still has Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey to come this summer.
There's no doubt he's in the biggest year of his career yet after his big break on The Walking Dead many years ago.
Stay tuned for more news about Bernthal's upcoming projects and, potentially, His and Hers season 2.
