We’ve officially made it to the best month in a long time for fans of The Walking Dead. For the first time since October 2025, new episodes of The Walking Dead franchise will arrive in July 2026.
It’s been a long eight-month wait since the third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon ended on AMC. Thankfully, that wait is finally over when The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 premieres on Sunday, July 26.
It’s been an even longer wait for the new season since Dead City season 2 came to an end on June 22, 2025. By the time the new season arrives, it will have been just over a year between seasons.
That’s not a super long wait by 2026 standards. We’re all used to waiting so long between seasons of our favorite shows.
You have about four weeks to rewatch the first two seasons of the series before Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and a bunch of new friends hit our screens. Luckily, both seasons are streaming on Netflix now.
Daryl Dixon season 3 hits Netflix in July, too
Speaking of Netflix, we have more good news to share. Daryl Dixon season 3 is coming to Netflix on July 19.
This is a very interesting addition to Netflix this summer. We weren’t expecting to see Daryl Dixon season 3 until much closer to the season 4 premiere, which is expected sometime this fall. The second season hit Netflix in October 2025 after season 3 premiered in September.
Daryl Dixon season 4 is the final season of the series. We know it’s arriving later this year. Norman Reedus already started publicly saying farewell to the character he played for over 16 years. AMC hasn’t revealed the premiere date yet. With season 3 hitting Netflix so soon and giving fans a chance to catch up, I think there should be reason to believe that the Daryl Dixon season 4 release date will be announced soon.
That’s the last piece to this puzzle.
We could see The Walking Dead at San Diego Comic-Con
We’re still waiting for confirmation and have been for the last month or so, but it would be totally shocking if The Walking Dead didn’t bring out the Dead City and Daryl Dixon stars.
The convention begins on July 23 and continues through July 26.
For Dead City, that is opening weekend for season 3, so it totally makes sense to do a screening of some kind and really get fans excited.
For Daryl Dixon, this is the last chance, potentially ever, to see Reedus and McBride. It makes sense to give them one last rodeo at the convention.
On top of that, there’s a lot of speculation that The Walking Dead could have some more big announcements about future projects coming at SDCC, too, but we’ll just have to wait and see what the network has planned.
Honestly, I don’t remember a month with this much potential for The Walking Dead in a very long time. We know we’ll have the new season of Dead City, but we could also have release date news for Daryl Dixon season 4, the official send-off for Daryl and Carol, some potential reunion news, and possible news about the future of The Walking Dead franchise. That’s a huge month.
