If you’re ready to dive back into the world of both video games and The Walking Dead, then this new game is for you.
The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is set to release on Sept. 18, 2026, via Trailmark Games, according to Gematsu. The new video game will be available on several consoles and play styles, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, and PC.
The game itself is going to be a “brawler,” where a player, or a team of players, fights through hordes of enemies as they come at you. The art style is also very different from previous Walking Dead games, settling on a more retro-inspired look. Check out the trailer below:
Fans can play as survivors Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne as they go through various maps that resemble destroyed settlements, tunnels, strongholds, and more, filled to the brim with both walkers and “hostile” people alike. Players will also have the chance to face some of the most iconic villains in the franchise: the Saviors and the big man himself, Negan.
There are several different kinds of weapon attacks, combos, and more for fans to use. There is also a campaign mode that reimagines the All Out War plotline from season 8 and takes players to familiar locations that fans might recognize, including Alexandria, The Kingdom, Hilltop, and more.
You’ll also be able to play with some of the weapons that the characters are known for, like Michonne’s katana or Daryl’s crossbow, which, of course, all have their own different kind of combo style. Alongside this, there are bosses to face as well, from familiar characters like Negan to walkers that have lived in our minds forever (like the Well Walker).
Truly, this game sounds like a hodgepodge of different The Walking Dead moments and set pieces all combined into a brutal escape for those who love the show — so basically, it's a fan’s dream. This isn’t the first time that there’s been a Walking Dead video game, but it’s been some time since we’ve gotten one as intense as this one looks. My personal favorite has always been Telltale’s The Walking Dead.
Even so, The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival sounds like a good way to spend time with friends and fight hordes and hordes of walkers that get progressively harder each time. And as someone who has spent a fair amount of time playing zombie video games, this looks like a unique take.
It'll honestly be a nice change of pace, considering the last The Walking Dead game, The Walking Dead: Aftermath, was just released on iOS and Android. Mobile games are enjoyable, but there's just something to be said for a good video game on a big screen (or a computer).
If you’re interested in checking out The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival, the game costs $19.99 for a standard edition and $29.99 for a deluxe edition, which will get you a few extra skins, some character modes, and more. And it’ll be a great way to spend time while we wait for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4.
