Dan Fogler in Bob Dylan biopic A complete Unknown with Timothée Chalamet

Fantastic Beasts and Walking Dead actor Dan Fogler will portray Albert Grossman, a manager in the folk and rock and roll scene, in the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown. He was also recently announced for a stage production, The Boy Who Loved Batman, based on the memoirs of Batman producer Michael Uslan.
Directed by James Mangold, known for Ford v Ferrari, A Complete Unknown was written by Mangold and Jay Cooks, who sought inspiration from Elijah Wald's 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric!
The movie focuses on Dylan's transition to electrically amplified instrumentation. Dylan is portrayed by Timothée Chalamet, who also produces. Set during the influential music scene in 1960s New York, the story follows 19-year-old Dylan, who hails from Minnesota, as he quickly becomes an extraordinary folk singer and worldwide sensation. The movie leads to his 1965 performance at the Newport Folk Festival in a groundbreaking electric rock and roll style.
Considered the pioneer of the American folk music revival, Dylan would shock fans when he began using an electric guitar in his folk music. In 1965, he released "Like a Rolling Stone," which became known as a folk rock song. The Newport performance was pivotal in his career, with some attendees booing the change at the show.
Mangold has stated that this film has been a dream of his for about five years. He expressed his excitement at chronicling such a pivotal time in the world of music.

Dan Fogler - upcoming role
On Valentine's Day 2025, Fogler will appear in a modern pop music retelling of Romeo and Juliet in the movie Verona's Romeo & Juliet from Briarcliff Entertainment. The movie features Clara Rugaard and Jamie Ward as the leads and are joined by Fogler, Rebel Wilson, Rupert Everett, Jason Issacs, Derek Jacobi and more.
