Fear the Walking Dead and The Boys actress Colby Minifie in horror film The Surrender

Deadline reports that actress Colby Minifie has been cast with Grey's Anatomy's Kate Burton as the leads in an indie horror The Surrender. Minifie is well known for her role as Virginia in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. She is likely best known for portraying Vought International exec. Ashley Barrett in Prime Video's The Boys and the spinoff Gen V.

The Surrender is Julia Max's feature directorial debut. She used her personal experience after the death of her stepfather as inspiration for the film. The movie is produced through Codepandent Films by Mia Chang (It Follows), Lovell Holder (Peak Season), and Ian McDonald (Woman of the Hour). Susan Gelb, Adam Maffei, and Rob Massar (Peak Season) executive produce, with Brenden Rodriguez and Daniel Schwab co-producing and KW Campol as associate producer.

The story follows a family whose patriarch dies, this tests the already distraught relationship between the mother and daughter, who survive. The mother, longing to be reunited with her husband, enlists a mysterious stranger to resurrect her dead love. When the brutal ritual spirals out of control, the women are forced to set aside their differences as the embark on a fight for their lives.

Colby Minifie - other roles

In addition to Fear the Walking Dead and The Boys, Minifie has also appeared in episodes of Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, the Netflix original Jessica Jones, The Blacklist, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Nurse Jackie.

She has also appeared in several movies, including Charlie Kaufman’s I'm Thinking of Ending Things, Radium Girls, and Submission.

In 2021, Minifie starred in Homebody, a body/personality switching story directed by Joseph Sackett. Minifie portrays Melanie, a babysitter studying to become a doula, who takes care of a boy named Johnny (Tre Ryder). The boy is fascinated with Melanie and discovers transcendental meditation, via YouTube, and is able to experience life after he inhabits hers. The movie also stars Jasmin Walker, who stars in The Walking Dead: Dead City. Homebody is currently streaming on Peacock.
