Oscar-nominated Golden Globe and BAFTA winner Samantha Morton hosted a post-Christmas Festive Takeover of BBC 6 Music. During the program, she played a mix of her favorite music with new artists she discovered in 2023. While most know of stellar work as an actress, many may have missed the fact that she recorded an album in 2023.

Morton shared the news of her Festive Takeover on Instagram (below), so many were able to listen live. But never fear, if you missed it, the recording will be available on BBC 6 Music.

In October, Morton revealed two of the "first of many" singles, "Supplication/Headbouncing" and "Hungerhill Road / Ghosts Are Dancing By The Door," on 7" vinyl. To purchase the item, check out this link.

She was also involved in another recording, Autumn Equinox. Morton and 13 other artists gathered on the first day of Autumn at the Copper House for this recording. The other artists involved include Jah Wobble, Richard Russell, Georgia, Lisa Diaz (Ibeyi), Laura Groves, Roses Gabor, Tian Qiyi, DOOOM666, Clarri Freeman Taylor (Mary In The Junkyard), Fran Lobo, Tic, and Lil C.

Her breakout role was in Morvern Callar (2002) and would then star with Tom Cruise in Minority Report. She is well known for her role as Margaret Wells in Harlots, streaming on Hulu.

Recently, Morton starred in the series The Burning Girls, a horror thriller streaming on Paramount+, and also had roles in She Said and The Whale. She will once again portray Catherine de' Medici, the 16th century Queen of France, in the Starz series The Serpent Queen, which is renewed for a second season.
