The cryptic teaser released in December 2022 is the only thing viewers will see of Mickey 17 until an undetermined date. Variety reports that Warner Bros. has removed the highly anticipated sci-fi film from Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho from the release date calendar to allow more time to complete the project.

The film stars Tenet actor Robert Pattinson and Beef star Steven Yeun, who are joined by Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. Mickey 17 is based on Edward Ashton's 2022 novel, Mickey7, which tells of an "expendable" who is a disposable employee sent to the ice world of Niflheim to colonize.

Yeun, who recently backed out of Marvel Studios Thunderbolts, praised Bong at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where he was promoting his new sci-fi romance, Love Me. In an interview with Screen Rant, Yeun had this say about Bong:

"The greatest. Joon-ho Bong continues to reveal to me his artistry and his humanity. You think he can’t surprise you, but he’s a really fantastic person."

Below is the teaser relesed in December 2022 stating that the release date was scheduled for March 2024, but it has now been put on hold.

Mickey 17 is Bong's first feature since Parasite became the highest-grossing Korean film in history and the first non-English language movie to win an Oscar for Best Picture.

Steven Yeun returns in the second part of season 2 of Invincible, an adult animated superhero series that premieres on Prime Video on March 14.
