The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is the fifth spinoff of The Walking Dead series, and its second season will premiere this summer. The second installment will continue the story of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), a character first introduced in season 1 of the main series, and Melissa McBride will return in a reprisal of her fan-favorite character, Carol Peletier.

Carol and Daryl, whose "ship" name is Caryl, quickly became a fan-favorite relationship in the main series. In season 2, episode 4, "Cherokee Rose," written by Evan T. Reilly and directed by Billy Gierhart, Daryl attempts to comfort Carol, whose daughter Sophia (Madison Lintz) had been lost in the forest.

The clip below highlights the scene where Daryl brings Carol a Cherokee rose and tells her the story of hope, as he still believed they would find Sophia alive and well. The story tells of the Cherokee woman who endured great suffering and whose tears are said to have transformed into delicate white roses. The rose represents resilience and strength in the face of adversity.

The Book of Carol

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol will premiere at the 2024 Tribecca Film Festival in June, with Reedus, McBride, and others attending. The AMC and AMC+ premiere should take place soon after.

The Daryl Dixon series began with the story of how Daryl was unwillingly thrown on a ship bound for France and his adventures in a foreign land. He met with many new people, some friends, some foes, and vowed to help the Union of Hope deliver a boy they believe will save humanity.

In the first season, some of the story is told in flashbacks, including a conversation between Daryl and Carol via radio. Daryl promises to return to the Commonwealth in a week but never appears. Carol is a woman of action, and when her best friend doesn't return, she sets out in search of him in Maine, his last known location.

Season 2 will feature Carol's hunt for Daryl while he remains in France, battling against the Power of the Living group. Fans long for the moment the two characters are reunited.

The Book of Carol is expected to feature the return of many cast member including Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi, Laika Blanc Francard, and Eriq Ebouaney. They will be joined by recently announced, Manish Dayal.
