Walking Dead actor, Michael Biehn stars in crazy new horror movie, The Red
By Renee Hansen
Michael Biehn briefly appeared in The Walking Dead during the eleventh and final season. He played Ian, the leader of a community known as Riverside, who was killed by the Commonwealth. Biehn is well known for many roles, including The Terminator and Aliens, and will now star in a killer kangaroo horror, The Red.
Based on Ryan Coonan's wildly successful short film, Waterborne, the first zombie kangaroo film, The Red, is directed by Coonan, who co-wrote the movie with Richard Barcaricchio. The movie is produced by Barcaricchio, Judd Tilyard, Elizabeth Tomkins, and Jessica Butland. The short, created nine years ago, has over 1.6 million views on YouTube (below) and was featured in over 50 worldwide festivals where it won multiple awards.
The 10 minute short is a Australian dark comedy horror that utilizes puppetry and SFX to create a animal from your nightmare, the Zombieroo.
The movie, which is currently in post-production, stars Biehn, Tess Haubrich, Aaron Pederson, and Angie Milliken. The story follows a young sheriff, Maddy, who is obsessed with living up to the legacy of her dead father as she investigates the deaths of locals ripped to shreds by what is discovered to be a zombie kangaroo named Rippy.
Check out the official trailer for The Red that will release in Australian theaters on October 31 with a U.S. date coming soon.
