Twilight actor Alex Meraz joined The Walking Dead during the eleventh and final season as Carver, a member of the Reapers. If you follow Meraz on Instagram, you can see he has been quite busy with several projects. He recently shared some behind-the-scenes photos on social media with the caption, "That's a wrap!"

The photos included a shot of Meraz and Billy Bob Thornton, along with two great videos, one of an explosion and one of him in the makeup chair with a wig for the role. In the comments, someone asked if he got to keep the skull cap, to which he replied, "I wish. It was a custom $25k lace front wing." Another eagle-eyed commenter guessed that the project is the new Taylor Sheridan series, Landman.

Based on the 11-part podcast Boomtown hosted by Christian Wallace, who co-created Landman with Taylor Sheridan for Paramount+. Filming for the series began in February 2024 in Fort Worth, Texas, and the surrounding areas. While Sheridan is well known for his cowboy-themed projects like Yellowstone, 1883, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and more, Landman is set in the world of oil.

Landman is a modern story that features the stories of fortune seekers in the world of oil rigs. Featuring roughnecks and wildcat billionaires who create an oil boom so significant it will reshape the climate, economy, and geopolitics.

The series stars Oscar-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a crisis executive at an oil company, and Ali Larter as Tommy's ex-wife, Angela. It also stars Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia, Michael Pena, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, Paulina Chavez, and J.R. Villarreal. Several of the actors in this series are already part of the Sheridan-verse, Thornton (1883), Randolph (1923), and Jordan (Yellowstone). Alex Meraz will star in an undisclosed role.

Landman is part of Taylor Sheridan's long list of series for Paramount+, which also includes 1923, 1883, Special Ops: Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves. Sheridan's main series, Yellowstone, has announced its final season which will film in 2024.

What else does Alex Meraz star in?

Meraz is probably best known for his role as Paul Lahote, a werewolf in the Twilight Saga beginning with the second film, New Moon. He auditioned for the role at the suggestion of his wife Kim, who is a Twlight fan and thought he would be perfect for the role.

His first big role came in the Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line) directed historical drama, The New World. Meraz portrayed a member of the Powhatan as a core warrior in this film inspired by the historical figures of Captain John Smith, Pocahontas of the Powhatan tribe, and Englishman John Rolfe.

Next, Meraz will star in Many Wounds, a movie directed by Jeremy Torrie that reimagines Once Were Warriors (1994). According to Deadline, Meraz will appear, along with Fear TWD actress Jenna Elfman, in the third season of AMC's Dark Winds.
