Deadline and other outlets report that Walking Dead actor Josh McDermitt has been cast with Stephen Amell in the pilot of a new series within the Suits universe. Suits L.A. is an extension of the original series that will begin production in Vancouver in March.

Showrunner Aaron Korsh is the creator and writer of the original series and will continue with Suits L.A. The spinoff was announced in October 2023, with NBC ordering the pilot in February 2024.

Amell will portray Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who partnered with his old buddy, Stuart Lane (McDermitt), to create an L.A. law firm, Black Lane Law, 15 years prior. The firm concentrates on criminal and entertainment law, and Ted is surrounded by people who mix their professional and personal lives, all while testing loyalties to Ted and each other.

McDermitt's character, Stuart is desribed as being energetic, powerful, focused and self-absorbed.

The pilot is directed by Victoria Mahoney, who also executive produces with Korsh, David Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein, who also worked on the original series.

What else does Josh McDermitt star in?

McDermitt is well known within The Walking Dead universe for his portrayal of the eccentric and highly intelligent Eugene Porter, who was introduced in season 4. He survived the series ending and was happily married to his true love Max (Margot Bingham), and they had a daughter named Rosie, after Rosita (Christian Serratos), a good friend of Eugene's who died in the final season.

He has also starred in Showtime's The Loudest Voice, AMC's final season of Mad Men, and on the TV Land comedy Retired at 35. McDermitt also lent his voice talents to the animated series Sharkdog, a Netflix original.

He also starred in one episode of Walking Dead director, EP, and SFX master Greg Nicotero's Creepshow, which airs on AMC. He portrayed Harlan King in season 2, episode 2, "Pesticide."

In May 2024, McDermitt will be a featured guest in his first US convention since 2018. The Camp Events is held annually in Peachtree City, Georgia, and is the most unique fan event you will ever attend. McDermitt will be on hand for professional photo ops, autographs, panel appearance and more. Don't miss it!!
