On Halloween night, 2010, Andrew Lincoln made his debut in The Walking Dead universe. The pilot episode of The Walking Dead, "Days Go Bye," began with Rick walking down a deserted highway to search for much-needed fuel. He would be met with a sight that left him and viewers shocked.

As Rick approached the gas station, it was evident that he wouldn't find fuel there. The place was overrun with abandoned cars, many with dead people inside. He hears the shuffle of feet and believes he has found a child. When she turns, the reality hits him: she has become a member of the undead, and it is clear what he must do.

In season 9, Lincoln would depart the series to spend more time with his family. A trilogy of movies was announced that would see him reprise his role as Rick. In 2022, at San Diego Comic-Con, Lincoln and Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne, would shock the fandom with news regarding a spinoff series focusing on the couple.
