Who died in The Walking Dead series finale?
By Renee Hansen
Viewers of The Walking Dead know it isn't smart to get too attached to a character, especially during the final season. But in the end, many of the fan favorites survived to fight another day. In the series finale, "Rest in Peace," which aired in November 2022, only three major characters died. Rosita, played by Christian Serratos; Luke, played by Dan Fogler, and Jules, played by Alex Sgambati.
Christian Serratos asked the show's creators to kill Rosita so that she would have closure from the character she portrayed since season 4 of the series. It was a difficult death as she had a daughter she left behind, and over the years, Rosita went from being ornamental to a fierce leader.
The clips shown in the trailer for the final episode had many fans believing she and her daughter Coco would take on the Lori and Judith death of the comics. Her mission in the final episodes was to locate her daughter of, whom the Commonwealth took. During the rescue of the child, Rosita was bit, a fact she hid until she could no longer. In the end, she was able to say goodbye to those she loved and spend time with her daughter.
Walking Dead - Luke and Jules
Luke and Jules hadn't been seen for quite some time, and fans were relieved to see them alive when they appeared late in the season. But during the penultimate episode, when the survivors encounter a horde containing variant walkers, Jules is overcome by walkers, and Luke is bit on the ankle. Efforts to save him failed, and he succumbed to his bite.
This death was extremely emotional as Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura), Magna (Nadia Hilker), Connie (Lauren Ridloff), and Kelly (Angel Theory) were at his side, devastated at the loss of their friend. This was a tight-knit group, and losing a member was gut-wrenching for all. Magna would stab his brain to ensure he didn't reanimate.
The Walking Dead's series finale was an episode worthy of the long-running series and the characters whose stories were told.
