Bear McCreary, known for composing music for The Walking Dead, Outlander, The Rings of Power, Battlestar Galactica, God of War, and many more, is hitting the road this spring with a leg of East Coast tour dates. “After celebrating the twentieth anniversary of my first screen credit for composing the music to 2004’s Battlestar Galactica, along with the release of my debut rock record, The Singularity, the time has finally come to take my music on the road,” Says McCreary

Bear McCreary has had a prolific career spanning over 20 years, composing scores for film, television, and video games. Most notably, McCreary scored all 177 episodes of The Walking Dead, including its iconic theme song. Echoes of his music resonate throughout The Walking Dead Universe, particularly in the Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira)-led spin-off, The Ones Who Live, which dropped on Netflix this week.

Bear McCreary - The Walking Dead and more

The opening title music for The Ones Who Live is a recreation of the piece used in the final scene of The Walking Dead series finale, "Rest in Peace." The emotional yet uplifting piece was composed by Bear McCreary and co-composer Sam Ewing. Ewing, who became the sole composer for The Ones Who Live, has kept McCreary's musical legacy alive within the TWD universe.

Below, you can listen to McCreary's The Walking Dead coda, which now serves as the opening title theme for The Ones Who Live.

More recently, McCreary composed the score for The Last Voyage of the Demeter, starring The Walking Dead alumnus Corey Hawkins, who played Heath in seasons 6 and 7. Additionally, he created music for The Serpent Queen, featuring Samantha Morton, who portrayed Alpha, the ruthless, matriarchal leader of The Whisperers in the later arcs of the series.

McCreary also released an "epic rock concept album" titled The Singularity, which features guest appearances from heavy-hitting musicians such as Slash (Guns N' Roses), Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Joe Satriani, and more. A companion graphic novel, co-created by McCreary and writer Mat Groom (Inferno Girl Red), was released alongside the album, further exploring its conceptual narrative.
