AMC's long list of Walking Dead spinoffs features several series focused on characters established in the main series. One of those direct spinoffs, Dead City, takes place in Manhattan. The first season saw the shocking pairing of long-time enemies Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The first season introduced several new faces to TWDU, and the second season will do the same.
The second season of Dead City will consist of eight episodes and take place six months after events of the season 1 finale. Filming for this season moved from New York to Boston but the story is still set in Manhattan.
Season 1 wrapped things up with Maggie and her son Hershel (Logan Kim) back at the Bricks, but their relationship was still very strained. Negan was betrayed by Maggie who traded him to secure her son's release. The Dama (Lisa Emery) explained to Negan that she needed him to help her rule over the island of Manhattan, threatening Hershel if he doesn't comply.
AMC has announced that season 2 will premiere in Spring 2025.
