The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 premiere is just less than two months away on July 26, 2026. AMC rolled out the new teaser trailer to set up the season's new mission, and it's a good one!

The teaser trailer for Dead City season 3 begins with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) paying a visit to Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in New York City. She has a plan to save Manhattan, and Negan is listening.

"We get the right kind of people, we can bring back Manhattan," Maggie tells Negan. And, pretty quickly, it's clear that he's down. If there's one thing we know about Negan is that he's always up for a fight, and this new battle will definitely be just that.

From there, Maggie and Negan can be seen putting together a ragtag team to accomplish their goal. On the team, there are a few newcomers joining the crew, and we get a longer look at those characters, Renata, Luis, and Dillard, played by Aimee Garcia, Raul Castillo, and Jimmi Simpson, respectively.

This will be no small feat, though, especially after the events of season 2, which saw New Babylon expand control of their territory.

Check out the new trailer for Dead City season 3.

Of course, the newcomers aren't necessarily new news for Dead City fans. We learned of Garcia, Castillo, and Simpson's involvement in the series quite a while ago now, but I'm sure some fans missed the memo. We've already seen a few teasers and images from the season, so this isn't the first look, but it's the first real look at this group of characters working together and what's to come.

We still haven't seen the full-length trailer for Dead City season 3, but I'm sure that is right around the corner. With that, we also still haven't seen a lot of the other key characters from Dead City season 3 yet, including Hershel (Logan Kim), The Dama (Lisa Emery), The Croat (Željko Ivanek), and others. We shouldn't have to wait too much longer.

AMC has already released the press release for Dead City season 3, and it sounds a lot like what we've seen in the two teaser trailers so far.

"In season three, Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse, but when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city?"

We'll share more information about what's to come in Dead City season 3 and about the key characters who will play a role in the new season.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3 will likely consist of eight episodes, just like season 2. Watch the season 3 premiere on AMC on Sunday, July 26.
