Variety recently reported that the third season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, has begun filming. This exciting news was accompanied by the announcement of additional cast members for the upcoming season, which includes a Walking Dead actor.
In June 2024, prior to the season 2 premiere, HBO renewed House of Dragon for an additional eight-part season. The series is based on George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood that takes place 200 years before events of the original series. Martin co-created the series with showrunner Ryan Condal and both serve as executive producers.
The newest casting announcements includeThe Walking Dead's Dan Fogler, who is well-known for his roles in the Fantastic Beasts franchise and A Complete Unknown. Fogler will portray Ser Torrhen Manderly. Additionally, Tommy Flanagan, who has starred in Sons of Anarchy and Gladiator, has been cast as Ser Roderick Dustin. They join previously announced James Norton, who will portray Ormund Hightower.
Returning cast members for season 3, include Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, and Abubakar Salim.
Dan Fogler - other roles
Fogler joined The Walking Dead in season 9 as Luke, a member of Magna's (Nadia Hilker) group. Their group also included Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) and sisters, Connie (Lauren Ridloff) and Kelly (Angel Theory). After a long absence in season 10 and early season 11, Luke reappeared only to meet his demise.
He portrayed Jacob Kowalski in the Wizarding World franchise films Fantastic Beasts. The three films serve as a prequel and spinoff to the Harry Potter film series.
The actor's most recent roles include A Complete Unknown, the Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothée Chalamet, and the Netflix original film, Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger, starring Rory Kinnear and Alison Hammond. He is also known for his roles in The Offer, Eric, The Good Wife, Secrets and Lies, and more.
In July 2025, watch for Fogler in Timothy Scott Bogarts Verona's Juliet & Romeo, a movie based on Shakespeare's characters. Fogler will portray The Apothecary and additional cast includes Rubert Everett, Rebel Wilson, Jason Isaacs, and more.
