The great thing about being a fan of The Walking Dead Universe is the sheer number of projects the cast gets involved with since the mothership series' conclusion. Of course, there are still a good number of spin-offs featuring fan favorites such as Daryl Dixon and Dead City. And with all the hints about how the Universe can keep expanding, let’s not forget where the show can go with its possibilities.
Recently, fans were treated to the announcement that Dead City will return for a third season, and Daryl Dixon will have another season. It isn’t impossible for some familiar faces to maybe pop up somewhere. But wherever that may be, it is always great for fans to see their favorite actors explore other diverse projects playing different characters.
One new project on the way is a new multi-genre drama western thriller written and directed by Ned Crowley, entitled Killing Faith, which has recently dropped the trailer. Starring Walking Dead alumni Josh McDermitt and Andrew J. West, this upcoming film is sure to bring a supernatural twist to typical Western movies. Here is all that you need to know about the movie ahead of its release.
With a one-hour and forty-eight-minute duration, Killing Faith is detailed to be centered around a young girl who is the daughter of a freed slave. However, not everything is as it seems, as anything the daughter touches dies. This begins the journey of trying to find a faith healer to fix this supernatural curse. Based in 1859, it is certain to bring a classic western vibe with its visuals, offering a fresh, dark twist that clearly runs throughout the trailer, complementing the typical Western tropes.
There are some heavy-hitting cast members, such as Guy Pearce, Bill Pullman, and DeWanda Wise. These main cast members seem to have the longest on-screen time between them and have the main story centered around their characters. But excitingly for fans of TWDU, McDermitt (Eugene Porter) and West (Gareth) will be featuring as two very different characters for the actors.

West is credited as playing Sheriff Legsplint, seen in the trailer among what seem to be a group of town residents. He also shares scenes with Pullman, believed to portray the healer, and appears in another intense moment, weapon drawn and clearly agitated. McDermitt’s role hasn’t been officially named yet, but based on the trailer, he might be the enigmatic, guitar-holding figure with a bag over his head — those eyes peering through the holes just look familiar!
Interestingly enough, this is not the first time that both West and McDermitt have starred alongside each other in a movie. Dark comedy Middle Man (2016) starred both actors together. Whilst it is not confirmed they will meet on screen in Killing Faith, it will be good to see both in their individual roles, nevertheless, and see the results of the work put in by the cast in this new picture.

The movie is due for a US theatrical release on October 3, but has yet to get an international premiere date announcement. But hopefully, it won’t be too long after the US drop. I think it will be a really exciting time for film fans to catch something with a slightly spooky vibe before Halloween, and it will bring a new generation of audiences into the western genre.
Killing Faith is due for release on October 3, and screen times can be found on your local theater’s website.
