Netflix recently released the new series from Kevin Williamson, The Waterfront. The series includes The Walking Dead: Dead City newcomer Jake Weary.
Weary joined TWDU in the second season of the Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) led spinoff Dead City. He portrays Christos, the leader of one of the gangs in Manhattan. Now he portrays Cane Buckley in The Waterfront, a crime drama set in the fictional town of Havenport, North Carolina.
Williamson (Scream) created and executive produced the new series, which was filmed in Wilmington and Southport, North Carolina. These locations were used to film two of Williamson's other well-known projects, Dawson's Creek and I Know What You Did Last Summer. The Waterfront is an eight-part series that was directed by Marcos Siega (Dexter: Resurrection, You), Liz Friedlander (One Tree Hill), Erica Dunton (Outer Banks), and Jann Turner (White Wedding).

Weary is joined by Holt McCallany, who portrays Harlan Buckley, Cane's father and patriarch of the prominent and dysfunctional Buckley family. Maria Bello plays Harlan's wife, Belle, and Melissa Benoist as their daughter, Bree. Additional cast includes Rafael L. Silva, Humberly Gonzalez, Danielle Campbell, Brady Hepner, and Topher Grace in a guest-starring role. Michael Gaston, Gerado Celasco, Andrew Call, and Dave Annable appear in recurring roles. Viewers will spot another TWD alum, Josh Mikel, in a few episodes.
The story, which is based on true events, follows the fictional Buckley family who when their family legacy is threatened go to extreme measures to protect it. After Harlan experienced two heart attacks, his wife and son take over operations of their fishing business, but in an effort to keep things afloat wonder into very dangerous territory. Bree, a recovering addict, struggles with a custody battle for her son and enters a relationship that could negatively impact her family.
All eight episode released on Netflix on June 19 and the series has already climbed to #1 on the Top TV Shows in the US.

The series has yet to be greenlit for a second season, but during an Williamson talked about the first season focusing on Cane and Harlan, and the second could potentially focus on Belle.
Weary is well known for his roles in Animal Kingdom, As the World Turns, Chicago Fire, and the horror films It Follows and It Chapter Two. He also stars in the newly released Netflix original Trigger Warning, which also stars Jessica Alba, Mark Webber, Anthony Michael Hall, Gabriel Basso, and more.
