Will Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol kill another fantastic new character off-screen?

The Walking Dead universe has a pattern of killing off, or never mentioning again, new characters that is frequently disappointing to viewers.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol premiered in September and has quickly advanced through the series to the midseason point. While it has been exciting to see Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) back in action and watch Daryl's (Norman Reedus) story continue to unfold in France, it appears one exciting new character could be killed off without another mention.

Tread lightly as this article contains spoilers for season 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol.

In the season premiere episode, Carol was seen actively looking for Daryl in Maine, his last known location. After discovering that Daryl was shipped overseas, she encounters a man, Ash (Manish Dayal), who owns a plane. This sparks Carol's idea that this man can get her to Daryl. She tugs at the grieving father's heartstrings with a story of a daughter who was in France at the time of the outbreak.

Viewers will remember her daughter Sophia's (Madison Lintz) death in the barn scene of season 2 of the main series. But this doesn't stop Carol from doing what she does best. She manipulates Ash to agree to fly her across the ocean to France, where she will begin her search for Daryl.

After a strange stop in Greenland, where Ash is propositioned to begin repopulating the world with two female environmentalists who were also supposed to kill Carol, they arrive in France. Carol heads out alone, believing Ash will only weigh her down or realize her lie when she doesn't head to what she told him was her daughter's last known location. She instructs him to wait two weeks and then leave without her.

During the Greenland stop, we learn that Ash made his first human kill. Despite this, he has proven himself to be a survivor who could be helpful to Carol. Viewers have seen much of Carol's journey to find Daryl, which everyone hopes will lead to their reunion, but have seen nothing of Ash; his fate doesn't look promising.

While many may not care one way or the other if Ash survives, it just circles back to a pattern TWD universe has of kill off, or never mentioning characters again that becomes quite tiresome. Hopefully we will get to see him again even if its his fate to die.
