Actor Louis Puech Scigliuzzi joined The Walking Dead universe during the first season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. He lived at the Abbey of Saint Bernadette with his aunt Sister Isabelle (Clémence Poésy), where he was introduced to Daryl (Norman Reedus).
Laurent is the child of Isabelle's sister Lily Carriere (Faustine Koziel) and Quinn (Adam Nagaitis), who at the time was Isabelle's boyfriend. Lily was bit and reanimated while giving birth to Laurent which in turn made people believe he could be the savior of humanity by possibly being immune to the virus.
He formed a special bond with Daryl, as he never had much male influence in his life. Daryl showed him survival skills and didn't treat him like a child. The depths of this bond was featured in the season 2 finale episode when they discussed Laurent heading to America with Carol (Melissa McBride) and Ash (Manish Dayal) and Daryl staying behind. It was an emotional moment when Daryl gave Laurent a guitar, and the pair sang "You Can't Always Get What You Want." Viewers teared up as you could hear Daryl's voice crack with emotion.
One of the main objectives of the season finale was to get Laurent away from France as the Union of Hope still desired to use him as a beacon of hope. Their plan was to expose him to a walker bite to prove he was immune, with nothing concrete to substantiate their claims.
Ash, Carol and Laurent were set to take off in the plane to make the voyage back to America but the plan was complicated by the arrival of Jacinta (Nassima Benchicou) and her army. Luckily, Daryl, Carol (who exited the plane before take off), Fallou (Eriq Ebouaney), and Codron (Romain Levi) were able to keep them at bay and Ash and Laurent made a safe getaway.
By the end of the episode Daryl and Carol were making their way to England via the Chunnel and will eventually end up in Spain in season three.
Will Laurent appear in season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, TWD Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple was asked about Laurent's return to TWDU.
“I got a text from Louis all but asking the same question. He's actually much more polite than that. He was just checking in. It's a garden of forking paths. There are different things I've been working on, and I have absolutely played with how Laurent might fit within those things in America. You have all these pivot points. Like, oh, if we're doing this, we can't do that. Or if we stop doing this, we can't do this. Or what do we need here? And who's available then? But yeah, he's absolutely in mind. Louis is terrific, Laurent was wonderful. And such a great character to bring different things out of Daryl. I am a fan.” - Scott M. Gimple
The Daryl Dixon spinoff has been renewed for a third season, filmed and set in Spain. Laurent will have to make quite a journey from America to appear in this story, so perhaps we will get a glimpse of him at the Commonwealth, or he could appear in a new spinoff. Gimple has discussed the possibility of more spinoffs to come.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon returns to AMC and AMC+ exclusively in 2025.
