Okay, here we go.
In the midseason finale of The Walking Dead, Beth ends up getting killed by Dawn after she attempted to kill Dawn by stabbing her with some scissors. Dawn eventually died but it was a result of being shot in the face by Daryl, not the little stab from Beth.
In an interview with IGN, Emily Kinney — who played Beth on the series — says that Beth made a mistake when she tried to kill Dawn as she may have overestimated the situation at the end of the day.
"Yeah, I think it was a moment of overconfidence in a certain way. I think she suddenly felt like she not only wanted to reunite with the group but she needed to step up in this physical, violent way. It was a mistake. [Laughs] In a way she got what she wanted still, with the Noah thing. It was like, “Now I want it all. I don’t want to leave here feeling like I didn’t completely, you know, bring Noah.” I think she almost got this moment of like, “Now I want everything.” She is a lot stronger mentally and physically by the end of episode eight and her time at the hospital. I think she just had that moment of like, “Now I want it all.” She just pushed it too far."
Beth most definitely overstepped her bounds in trying to kill Dawn as it went against everything she was building towards. Then again, it made perfect sense, as what she had seen Dawn do was unraveling Beth in a big way. She stepped up and took a big swing for the cheap seats in trying to kill Dawn — but she whiffed and missed instead.
