Norman Reedus Says Daryl Would Be A Criminal Without Walkers Around

Daryl Dixon is the resident bad ass on The Walking Dead, but Norman Reedus says his character may not be as admirable if it weren’t for the zombie apocalypse.

The midseason premiere of The Walking Dead is right around the corner and as a result, the series is getting a lot of attention in the press and from entertainment outlets. Not much is known about what will happen when the show returns, but actors on the show are in a reflective mood about where their characters might be if things were different.

Norman Reedus recently told Entertainment Weekly during an EW cover shoot before the season started, that if whatever happened to spring up the walkers hadn’t happened, Daryl likely would have been a criminal with his brother.

"“I think if the zombie apocalypse didn’t happen, Daryl would be probably with his brother doing crime. I think he would probably be up to no good. I think he would probably have no friends but his brother.” But then here comes the pièce de résistance, as Reedus considered what Daryl would be like as a person now in a world untainted by human misery and death. “He would just probably be an a–hole.”"

This makes a lot of sense, as Daryl has a certain amount of badass skill that can only really be used for a certain number of things. Since he’s not in the police business — from what we’ve gathered through four seasons of the show — the life of a criminal would likely fit Daryl very well.

Of course, he’d be some sort of Robin Hood criminal, as no matter how bad he tries to be, Daryl is a giant softie at heart.
