One of the iconic images of the season was a clean shaven but crazy, blood-soaked Rock screaming on his knees. Michonne played a role in putting Rick in check during this moment, and fans are trying to figure out what it all means.
According to Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne on The Walking Dead, the reason she went after Rick in last week’s episode was to put him in check.
"She believed he was a bit out of control, that he needed a serious time out before doing something that he would regret later. She really saw it as protecting him from himself and protecting their people from losing this place completely."
Michonne and Rick are alphas in the group, and they haven’t always seen eye-to-eye. But they arrived to the Alexandria Safe Zone as friends and it’s a relationship that they seem to be trying to nourish. But not everything is something that one will let get past the other — and this was an example of that.
